Prince George's Philharmonic

To Subscribers and Supporters of the Prince George's Philharmonic, Bravo! Bravo! Welcome to the Philharmonic's 39th annual concert season. We are so excited about our program this year and especially the concert in April, when the Philharmonic will present Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, under the direction of our esteemed Music Director, Charles Ellis. With the selection of excellent guest soloists and three wonderful choruses combining their voices, it promises to be a concert to remember.

For many years now, the Prince George's Philharmonic has been a strong and vital part of the cultural and educational life of Prince George's County and we strive to attract a diverse audience. Its annual concert series is driven by the commitment to provide a variety of innovative performances guaranteed to entertain, enrich, and extend the musical tastes of Prince Georgians.

We are also quite proud of our educational program, which this year begins a new chapter in its continuing service to students. We owe a debt of gratitude to Anne Gentry for coordinating the Educational Program since its inception. We extend our best wishes for the future.

The Philharmonic continues to enjoy support from county and state government, as well as various businesses and organizations. We are especially grateful to some of our recent supporters, members of Iota Gamma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and the Pierians of Prince George's County. The Philharmonic volunteers work tirelessly to assist us with each concert and they have our gratitude. Although it is difficult to single out one individual among so many, we must pause to thank Pearl Weiner, a 20 year volunteer, and Audrey Maynard, long-standing Volunteers and Box Office Coordinator. We wish them the best in retirement and our heartfelt thanks for the many years of service to the Philharmonic.

It is also an exciting time for me as I begin a third term as President. It is with anticipation that I look forward to seeing you during our 2004-2005 season. Now just sit back, relax, and enjoy the music.

Mary Ann White, President Board of Directors
