Charles Ellis is in his fourth season as Music Director of the Prince George's Philharmonic,
after serving for seven seasons as the orchestra's Resident Conductor. His professional credits
include seven years as Associate Conductor of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra and Music
Directorship of the Levine Chamber Orchestra of Washington, as well as guest conducting engagements
with the Baltimore Symphony, Rochester Philharmonic, Syracuse Symphony, Columbus Symphony, Florida
Symphony, Charlotte Symphony, Erie Philharmonic, Savannah Symphony, South Bend Symphony, Evansville
Philharmonic, Tallahassee Symphony, East Texas Symphony, Ohio Valley Symphony, Gainesville Chamber,
and Millbrook Orchestras. He has conducted productions with Boston Lyric Opera, Boston Summer Opera
Theatre, the Goldovsky Opera, and Prince George's Civic Opera, and has toured extensively throughout
the United States and Japan both as a member of the U.S. Army Field Band, and as conductor of the
Mantovani Orchestra.
A graduate of Indiana University, New England Conservatory, and Peabody Conservatory, Mr. Ellis
held a Johns Hopkins University Teaching Fellowship while at Peabody. In addition to his musical
activities, he is an active member of the Mason-Dixon Baseball Umpires' Association, of Baltimore.
